Marjeta Blinc Pesek, MD, Specialist in consultant psychiatrist psychiatry


Marjeta Blinc Pesek, MD, Specialist in consultant psychiatrist psychiatry, deals with the diagnostics and therapy of psychiatric disorders, individual and group psychotherapy as well as couples' therapy.

In collaboration with Maternity Hospital of University Medical Centre Ljubljana, she treats postpartum mental disorders, especially depression.

Qualifications and Titles:

  • graduated from the Medical School of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia (1990)
  • was awarded Prešeren’s Prize for student research from the University of Ljubljana (1988)
  • passed the State Licensing Examination in Psychiatry (1997)
  • Master of Science Degree. Thesis title: Schizophrenia in families – disease severity in parents and their offspring with schizophrenia (2002)
  • postgraduate study in group analytical psychotherapy
  • postgraduate study in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy
  • postgraduate study in family dynamics
  • the title of Research and Teaching Assistant in the Medical School of the University of Ljubljana (2002, 2005, 2008)

  • study and professional experience in Queen Elisabeth Hospital, Belfast (1987)
  • University Psychiatric Clinic Ljubljana (1992–2005), worked in the secure ward; head of one of the intensive care wards; individual and group psychotherapy work, regular supervisions
  • training in psychiatric treatment of women in fertile period; Prof. Ian Brockington in Birmingham
  • establishing and professional management of the Psychiatric Clinic Rudnik (since 2005)
  • counselor and supervisor of the Crisis Management Telephone – MENTAL DISTRESS CALL within the University Psychiatric Clinic Ljubljana
